Place: Lille, France
This past weekend (17-18/September 2010) we had several VJ performances at the NAME Festival, Lille (France). We performed with MYD and Busy P on 17/September, and with Peo Watson, Erol Alkan and Boys Noize on 18/September.
This was our third time performing at the festival, after the 2007 and 2008 editions. It is always a pleasure to go back. The festival usually takes place in beautiful and large reconverted industrial buildings. The area around Lille used to be very strong in the textile industry, but many of these buildings are now abandoned or have been reconverted for other purposes. The festival always attracts a large and energetic audience (as can been seen in the photos, and particularly in the videos). The DJs are usually of very high level, and this year was no exception – the DJs we performed with, such as Busy P, Boys Noize and Erol Alkan, played very good sets.
I also had the opportunity to see part of Ellen Allien, Radio Slave, Paul Kalkbrenner and Laurent Garnier’s sets, which were quite good. Chole’s live set was one of my personal highlights. The festival has a “family” feeling, with many of the DJs playing more than once in its 6 years of history (we had played with Ellen Allien and Radio Slave in previous editions).
